Fat Grafting for Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Toronto, and Beyond
One popular way to restore facial volume lost to aging is fat grafting, available to Toronto and Vaughan-area patients facing a variety of the signs of getting older, including:
- wrinkles
- sagging skin
- sunken cheeks
Fat grafting restores volume lost in the face over time, which is crucial, because volume loss causes wrinkling. As we lose fat, we lose the component in our skin that gives it a youthful smoothness and roundness. Less elasticity means that our skin doesn't easily conform to our face's changing shape, which can make the problem worse. Volume loss and wrinkling combined can create a sunken, haunted look.
What does fat grafting involve?
While there are several products that can replace your volume in your face, your own fat is a natural and logical solution. This procedure involves removing fat from your abdomen or thighs through a gentle hand-harvesting method and injecting that fat into the areas of your face that have started to lose density.
Common problem areas that can be treated sit around the eyes, cheeks, and jaw line. The injected fat can fill in wrinkles, giving your skin a more youthful contour with gently rounded lines instead of harsh, angular planes.

What else should I know about fat grafting?
I perform fat grafting surgeries at Mackenzie Health Hospital Richmond Hill. Patients go under general anesthesia for this day procedure. A private surgical facility is also available for patients who prefer that option.
This is a very appealing surgery for many people as it does not require any traditional facial incisions and therefore is minimally invasive. This reduces potential scarring, as well as any necessary down time for recovery. Fat grafting can be combined with liposuction procedures.
While it can be performed as a solo procedure, fat grafting can also play a great role in creating a balanced and comprehensive rejuvenation strategy for the face along with cosmetic eyelid surgery or a facelift.
