How Laser Vein Removal Works
During your CoolGlide laser vein removal treatment in our Vaughan offices, our highly trained registered nurse will apply a pulse of highly concentrated light to the treatment area, which causes the blood to coagulate in the vein. Your body will then automatically absorb the coagulated blood and redirect the blood flow to other veins deeper in the skin that are less susceptible to damage.

Most patients require only one to two laser vein removal sessions for effective results. The exact number of treatments will depend on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. All of these options will be discussed with you in detail during your initial consultation.
Laser vein removal is performed in our Vaughan offices without anesthesia. The level of pain is minimal with most describing it as a slight "stinging" sensation similar to the snap from a rubber band.
Following treatment, you may experience some redness and bruising, but this should diminish within a few days. With larger veins, there may also be some brown discoloration. Patients who have had laser vein removal on their legs to treat spider veins are advised to wear support hose for 3 to 6 weeks. After your treatment, you can return to your normal activities immediately, although we do advise no vigorous activity for at least 24-48 hours following leg vein treatment. The use of a good UVA/UVB sunscreen is also highly recommended.
