Laser Hair Removal vs. Electrolysis
Electrolysis is a time consuming and painful procedure in which a needle must deliver an electrical charge to each individual hair follicle in the treated area. Although the results can be permanent, they can often take years to achieve. Laser hair removal, on the other hand, is fast, and non-invasive with minimal discomfort.

How Laser Hair Removal Works
During your treatment, our highly trained registered nurse will apply a pulse of very concentrated light to the area being treated. This light is designed to penetrate deep into your hair follicles, destroying hair that is in the active growth phase. Since not all of your hair grows at the same time, most areas will need between 6-8 treatments to achieve optimal results. Other factors that may influence the number of treatments are age, hormone levels, medications, and ethnicity.
After your procedure, the treated area may look a bit red or swollen. These effects typically subside within 1-2 hours. In very rare instances, you may experience some blistering similar to a sunburn. Although you can immediately return to your normal activities, we do suggest that you limit your sun exposure and liberally apply sunblock. Dr. Madronich or our registered nurse may suggest that you use specially formulated skin products.
